Playing

Tanner has always played peek a boo by himself. Kinda crazy, I know. He takes his snuggly and puts it over his face. Lets go and then grabs it off and smiles and laughs. I won't complain at keeping him self entertained. He is now sitting up on his own so I don't know how much longer he will do it so I had to get some pictures.

The other day Tanner was jumping and Kayla crawled over and tried to get him. This was so funny to Tanner who just couldn't stop laughing.
Since Kayla is crawling now, she is crawling into the tunnel. She did get stuck when she tried to roll over and I had to rescue her.

Woo Hoo--I got my pictures

We go the CD of all our pictures in the mail today. I am so excited. Now I just have to try not to spend $100's on pictures and prints. My babies are just so cute that I want all of them. Here are a few of the top ones. My only complaint is I don't like any of the family together. Tanner got really crabby and went to sleep in the middle so we only have a few of us all together. Oh well. We have talked about taking them outside in the spring so maybe we will have to wait till them.

Crawling

Well, Kayla has finally done it. She crawled for the first time yesterday. It was more of an army crawl but she is definatly getting into things already. The thing she first crawled to get to, my cell phone. I guess she is a girl and boy do girls love to talk on the phone. She keeps doing it and trying to get up on knees so I am sure that won't be too far away. Now to baby proof:)

Growing and Changing

It seemed like in 2 weeks Kayla learned to eat baby food, roll over and over ( in a row) scoot, get up on her knees, sit up on her own, and grew 2 teeth. How many of us could do that many new things. Tanner is more layed back and has no teeth to show but he eats up a storm, found his feet, can put his binky in his mouth, reaches for things, and can sit up with some help.

She is so close to crawling but just can't quite do it yet.

They both love the dogs and will reach their hand out to be licked. Oh well, we just try to wash it before it goes in their mouth.

Here is Tanner's favorite position. As soon as you lay him on his back, he rolls to his belly. Then he lifts his arms and legs and flops them all around, hence his dead fish impression. Most of the time he does it and laughs. I guess it is fun but it looks so uncomfortable, and sometimes he gets mad and forgets he knows how to roll to his back.

He has always slept on his tummy, but the other day I went in and he was on his side, the next night he was on his side again with his hand over the bumper pad, too cute.

Professional Pictures

Kyle has a friend from Realty Executives who is starting up her own photo agency. She wanted some pictures to use for her portfolio so she asked to use our babies. We had lot of fun at the shoot and will get a CD of all the pictures. We go back on Friday to take some dress-up shots and ones of the whole family. I am excited, and even better they are free.

Visit from the DeMilles

Kyle's sister, Kristine and her daughter Whitney came for a visit. We were excited to have them come at the last minute. They had not been out since the babies were born. We headed off to the Bellagio where we often take out-of-towners. It has a great conservatory with displays that are changed 5 times a year. It is now decorated for Chinese New Year.

Then we went to their buffet for dinner. Tanner slept through everything but Kayla wanted to taste everything. She loved the strawberries. As adults we at ours chocolate covered and boy were they fabulous.

She couldn't get it in her mouth fast enough.

Eating, Eating

Tanner is my great little eater, he just downs the food like he is starving. Kayla you can get to take a couple of dainty little bites if you really work with her. But as chubby as she is, I am not worried about her weight. I was given these little mess bags on a handle. Someone told me they are great for teething if you freeze the fruit before putting it in. I tried it the other day When Kayla was fussy. They both had a blast eating the peaches inside. They can't hold on well enough to too many things but the handles were great. They also love to eat graham crackers.

We have this little bumble ball that bounces around when it is turned on. I gave it to Tanner for the first time and he was so intrigued. He just wanted to grab it but it kept moving. It was funny to watch.

Kayla got her first tooth on Feb. 4 and her second on Feb. 5. She is much happier now that they are through. Tanner show no sign yet, we will just have to wait and see.

Tanner has always slept stretched out from the time he was a newborn. Then again, from the time he was in-utero. He was always kicking me and trying to straighten out his legs. Then he started crossing them at the ankles. It is the cutest thing. Whether he is sitting in the bouncy seat or sleeping he will cross them. Just in the last week he has started to sleep with his little bum up in the air. I think this is how most babies sleep, but he only does this sometimes now.

6 months old

I can hardly believe half a year has gone by. THey are getting so big and grown up. Kayla now weighs 16 lb and Tanner is 14 lb 12 oz. This is no surprise to me as I lift them everyday. But everyone thinks Tanner is bigger than Kayla. I will have to take their heights as Tanner has always been longer.

Here are their monthly pictures in the bouncy seat. We will see how long until they don't fit anymore.

Kayla is fasinated by the dog(Tanner is too) They both always want to touch her and of course she wants to like their hands.

One day she just couldn't resist touching her paw, I was worried she would get scratched with those big nails but Patsy just layed there so still.

Before you know it Kayla will be crawling. She is already getting up on her knees and pushing. She has not started rocking yet but I am sure it is just a matter if time. Tanner on the other hand just lifts up his arms and legs when he is on his belly. I think he looks like a fish out of water as he flops them around. I will have to take a picture of it soon.
She is also sitting up pretty well. She can sit unassisted of a couple of minutes so I usually sit behind her or put her in the nursing pillow. Tanner on the other hand just pushes back until he is laying down. He likes to lounge and doesn't care to sit up. Oh well, he will learn when he is ready.

Learning and Growing

It seems like over the past two weeks the babies have changed a lot. First a couple of funny thing. Kayla never took to the binky as much as I wished to help her be happy. Now all of a sudden she want it. Or I should say she wants Tanner's. So when I was in VA I gave her one to play with so she wouldn't take her brothers. Now sometimes she sucks on it. More often she chews on it but it keeps her busy and happy so who knows.

Kayla is now my steamroller (as Kyle says). She first rolled at 4 mo and then at 5 mo she become more consistent and could roll whenever she wanted to. But now she does it consecutively and is rolling off the blanket and under couches and table.

Back in October our dog Patsy jumped over our 7 foot brick wall and ran away. 4 months later we get her back. She loves the babies and wants to be closer than Sasha. She just came right over and layed by Kayla as she rolled around. I couldn't resist a picture.

Spotsylvania

While in VA we went up to Will and Nicole's for a couple of days. The babies were great in the car and slept most of the trip it helped that one direction was at night. The babies had fun with their cousins. Thanks to Nicole for her hospitality and helping out with the little ones. Now all of my siblings, spouses, and their cousins have seen the babies. Except for Drew who is still serving his mission in Hungary. We look forward to introducing them this summer.

Hailey and Cade fought over who could pust the babies in the doll stroller. They both had a great time. Or should I say all four, the pusher and the riders.

The boys had a little computer time.

Hailey loved holding the babies, even if she did forget to tell us when she was done and the Tanner started falling off.

I think Cade's favorite word was "baby". He must have said it 1000 times while we were there. He just wanted to help so much.
