Halloween Costumes

I still need to post a few pics from Virginia but I wanted to show off the costumes I made for my kids. My mom helped me so we were able to get them both finished, glad I don't have to worry about those anymore.  I have some fun clown wigs to go with them. We will see how much I get to pain their faces.

Virginia Day 9

We got up and drove to my friend Stephanie's house. She has twin boys who are 6 weeks older than mine. They had tons of fun playing together. It made me wish we lived closer to let them play more. I of course didn't get out my camera so I have no pictures. We then drove to Natural Bridge and went to an amazing Safari Park. My parents and Nicole and her kids met us there. Here are a few of the high lights. You drive your car inside and feed the animals from the car. At first Tanner wasn't sure, but soon the animals had him laughing. Here is a llama

At the end you could go in a walking part and see some other animals. Here is the crew by the flamingos.

Then we went to where Will has been working on these amazing 50 man tents that will survive chemical and biological warfare. We got the big tour.

He had told his kids about the big fan that was taller than him and they had to try it out. When it was on full blast it blew them away running.

Then we finally drove to Nicole's for a few days. Will had to stay in Natural Bridge for work.

Virginia Day 5-8

We had to slow life down a little bit as we were way too busy. But here is what we did
Make Kayla a tutu

Make Tanner a tool belt
Buy fabric for clown Halloween costumes and begin sewing
Make candy holders with friends
Round up calves and get ready to take to market

Ride the horses, again. (Can you see Grandma and Kayla)

Virginia Day 4

We took a trip to Pandapas Pond with the kids. They had tons of fun. It isn't a very long hike around the pond and can be done in 30 min or so, but we had so much fun looking at everything and doing things that it took us almost 2 hours. Here are a few highlights.

We wore water shoes so they could play in the water. Tanner loved to splash.

A few of  dogwood trees have started to turn fall colors. I am sorry to miss them.

Eating wild elderberries. Tanner liked them but Kayla thought they were too sour.

After I took a nap and Grandma took the kids in the little pool and when I woke up they were jumping on the trampoline. They have spent a lot of time on there.

Virginia Day 3

Today we spent the morning at home. Grandma make Kayla the cutest ballerina tutu. She loves to twirl in it.

Then we headed to the park for playing and a picnic lunch. We went to Hand-N-Hand playground and they kids loved all the climbing to do there.

Here was  a great tire swing that  was low enough the kids could get on all by themselves. So nice.

RIght next door is the old caboose park. When I was little it had the great caboose that you could go inside and even climb up to a loft part and all the big kids would get on the roof. Well they have a new (or maybe refurbished) caboose that is moved to a new spot and sealed off inside,. You can climb the stair and peek out the end but can't go inside. So sad. Tanner still liked driving it.

Uncle Will came down to visit for the evening. He is working for 3 weeks in Natural Bridge and it is only 1 1/4 hour to my parents so it was a fun evening. My kids hardly took anytime to warm up to him and loved all the attention and wresting. We had to go feed the horses as soon as he got there and then had fun with pipe cleaners.

Grandpa played "Bull" with them and they loved it. Kayla was a little more scared that Tanner but they had a blast.  It is great Whittier tradition that I am glad my kids can do.
